Welcome! I am Akanksha Jain, a Doctoral Researcher South Asian University. My research interest includes microbial fermentation for bioenergy and value-added product formation. For my doctoral thesis, I am working on biohydrogen production by Clostridium sp., investigating various amylolytic enzymes produced by Bacillus sp. for hydrolysis of starchy wastes, and optimizing their co-cultures for valorization of starch-based wastes for biohydrogen production. In addition and concurrently to my PhD, I am actively contributing to analysis, consulation and policy discourse on 'energy', 'climate' and 'science education'. I am also enthusiastic about science communication, for which I hold a diploma from the Indian Science Communication Society (ISCOS). You can find out more here.
Prior to my doctoral studies, I did my bachelor's in Life Sciences from Gargi College, Delhi University, followed by an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from South Asian University. Before joining SAU, I had worked as a Junior Project Fellow at the National Council for Educational Research & Training (NCERT) and interned at the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
