Welcome!
I’m Akanksha Jain, a researcher with a keen interest in microbial biotechnology, bioenergy, and science-policy engagement.
I recently completed my PhD in Biotechnology from South Asian University, where I worked on biohydrogen production from starchy wastes using Clostridium species. My research focused on optimizing co-culture systems with amylolytic Bacillus strains for effective hydrolysis and valorization of starch-rich waste streams. You can explore my research journey [here].
Alongside my PhD, I actively contribute to policy analysis, consultation, and discourse in the areas of energy, climate, science, and education. My interest in science communication is both academic and personal. I hold a diploma from the Indian Science Communication Society and enjoy simplifying science for diverse audiences. You can read my work [here].
Before starting my PhD, I completed a Bachelor’s in Life Sciences from Gargi College (Delhi University) and an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from South Asian University. I also gained valuable experience at the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as a Junior Project Fellow and interned with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). More details [here].
Outside the lab and policy circles, you’ll find me crocheting, experimenting in the kitchen, or just enjoying the little things in life.
